Dr. Sonia Pinto investigated inclusive education in network to foster digital literacy. She developed a CPD model based on Social Network and Knowledge Mapping to foster ICT skills to enable the (re)construction and sharing of knowledge by disadvantaged youth of Telecentros in Brazil.
This study was developed at the Open University - Knowledge Media Institute under the supervision of Dr. Okada. Dr. Pinto is graduated in Pedagogy at the Catholic University of Salvador - Bahia and holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Contemporaneity at the University of Bahia (UNEB) and a Doctoral degree at the Federal University of Bahia - Multidisciplinary Postgraduate Programme in Knowledge Diffusion (DMMDC-UFBA).
Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the University of Bahia. She coordinated a project on digital literacy with young people at Telecentros.BR, which is a program of the Federal Government of Brazil whose aims focus on digital inclusion and social innovation for disadvantaged learners. She was a visiting pos-doctoral researcher at the Knowledge Media Institute - Open University - UK (KMi-OU) and examined students' argumentation during ENGAGE project under the supervision of Dr. Okada.
She is currently a member of the COLEARN Open Research Network (KMi/OU) and was a representative of the Digital Literacy Training Programme of the Secretary of Digital Inclusion of Brazil Government. Her research interests include the areas of digital literacy, inclusion, scientific literacy, networked learning, knowledge mapping, education and technology and distance learning.
